After a lot of  work, let the play begin. The Eastside Activities Complex next to Kelly Walsh High School will be dedicated with a number of activities starting at 10 AM this Saturday.

For the Kids there are Soccer and Football clinics being put on by the coaches and students  of Kelly Walsh. Participation is free and the registration for each starts at 9:30 AM at the complex. The soccer clinic is open to grades 3-8 and the football clinic is open to grades 5-8 and is no-contact so helmets and pads will not be needed.

At 11:30 there will be performances byt the KW Cheer Camp and the Kelly Walsh Marching Band.

At 12 Noon there will be a ribbon cutting and the official dedication of the field will happen at that time.

This will be followed by the Tom Staffileno Memorial Seniors vs the Faculty Flag Football game. At 1:00 PM there will be a Kelly Walsh Alumni Soccer Game.

Starting about 11:45-2:00 There is a Barbeque sponsored by the Kelly Walsh Booster Club, Quarterback Club and KWHS Student Council.

This is the first of 3 phases planned for this area just to the west of KWHS, with the next to include 12 tennis courts. Principal Brad Diller and Booster club representative Scott Keith joined us this morning with more detail.

And here is Activities Director and Assistant Principal Frank Mello with a video tour of the facility and some of the features.

For those who have been watching the progress of the construction of these fields, you know that it hasn't been with out a few hitches along the way. Click HERE for the story on the D9 CAT getting buried in the middle of it all.

For those of us familiar with the history of this piece of ground it has come from a dumping ground to a first class facility in a relatively short amount of time. We hope everyone gets out for the dedication on Saturday as it will be a special time for all.
