The College National Finals Rodeo kicked off Sunday afternoon at the Casper Events Center with two sessions of the Bulls, Broncs and Breakaways. We like to focus our attention (for now) on the Wyoming schools and the Wyoming participants. In the first session on Sunday, Big Piney native Brendan Ames who rodeos for Sheridan College posted a 79 in the bareback event. His former teammate at Sheridan, Cole Reiner had a 76 in the bareback. Reiner is a Kaycee native and competes for Casper College. The University of Wyoming women won the Central Rocky Mountain regional title and got a boost from Payton Donnelly in the breakaway roping with a time of 2 and 5. In the saddle bronc, Lane Schuelke of Casper College put a qualified ride on the board with a 70. Colby Johnson of Sheridan College also put together a qualified effort in the bull riding with a75. We have a short video of those performances on Sunday. Enjoy!
