In the early morning hours of February 26th, The Wyoming Highway Patrol was requested to investigate a post pursuit vehicle crash within the city limits of Cheyenne. According to a news release from the Cheyenne Police Department, officers responded to 1710 ½ O’Neil Avenue after getting a 911 hang up call at 3:30 a.m. on February 26th. Officers arrived on scene and saw Kevin Miller, 27, of Cheyenne, driving away in a blue sedan. Officers started to pursue Miller and his car crashed at West Lincolnway and Southwest Drive in Cheyenne. Further investigation revealed that Miller is a suspect in a felony domestic assault at 1710 ½ O’Neil Avenue.

The crash investigation by Patrol showed that Miller was driving westbound on West Lincolnway at Southwest Drive at a high rate of speed. Miller lost control at that location, crossed the centerline and slid into the eastbound lanes of travel leaving the road to the south. After running off the roadway, the car struck a concrete block/traffic control box. The collision with the concrete block deflected the vehicle back into the intersection of Lincolnway and Southwest Drive where it came to rest.

Miller was the only occupant at the time of the crash. He was not wearing his seatbelt and was seriously hurt and was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. At some point after arriving at the hospital, Miller was pronounced dead.

Eluding law enforcement, excessive speed and careless driving are all being investigated as contributing factors in this crash. The events leading up to the pursuit remain under investigation at this time by the Cheyenne Police Department.
