Cheyenne East Edges KW Girls in 4A State Tournament
The Cheyenne East girls overcame a stagnant 2nd half offensively to nip Kelly Walsh 44-42 in the opening round of the State 4A Tournament at Casper College on Thursday morning. Ky Buell gave East the lead for good on a 3 point play with :37 seconds to go. Kelly Walsh certainly had their chances as they rallied from 11 points down but a couple of critical turnovers late in the game sealed their fate. East shot just 22% from the field in the 2nd half and 28% for the game. Buell was the T-Birds leading scorer with 16 points as they improved to 26-2 and earned a spot in the semi-finals. KW got 15 from Isabel Lyons with Corin Carruth pulling down 13 rebounds, The Lady Trojans will be in the consolation round at 9AM Friday morning at the Events Center
