Casper Re-Entry Center Employee Charged With Domestic Battery

A man who said he is a corrections officer at the Casper Re-Entry Center is facing domestic violence charges.

Brian Heninger made his initial appearance in Natrona County Circuit Court Tuesday on a domestic battery charge. Heninger called the charges "a grave mistake" during his Tuesday court appearance.

Heninger said he was the victim in the incident and noted that he was an honor roll student in school.

Geo Group operates the Casper Re-Entry Center.

Geo Vice President of Strategic Marketing Monica Hook told K2 Radio News Wednesday that Heninger is currently on administrative leave without pay. Hook declined to discuss Heninger's role with the company.

An affidavit of probable cause alleges that a woman called police to her and Heninger's home Monday and reported she and Heninger had been arguing throughout the day.

The woman allegedly told police that Heninger threatened to take their children and that he was going to kill the victim.

According to the affidavit, Heninger briefly left the home before returning at 5:20 p.m. He then allegedly threatened to kill the woman and slammed her into a refrigerator.

Court documents say the woman described Heninger as being so angry that his veins were popping out of his skin.

Speaking with police, the woman said Heninger had complete control over their finances and that he had been physically abusive in the past. The victim allegedly told police she feared for her life and believed Heninger's threats to kill her were legitimate.

According to the affidavit, the woman told police Heninger was probably at work at the Casper Re-Entry Center. Authorities went there, made contact with Heninger and arrested him.

Court documents indicate he is free on bond.
