Casper Man Arrested After Allegedly Pointing Loaded Gun at Another Man During Dispute
A man is jailed after allegedly pointing a loaded gun at another man during an argument Wednesday afternoon.
Anthony James Kelley, 26, was booked on charges of aggravated assault and misdemeanor marijuana possession. He will likely make his initial appearance in Natrona County Circuit Court at 2 p.m. Thursday.
Charging papers say a police officer was sent to an apartment complex on East 18th Street at roughly 4:40 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a fight.
A woman had called 911 and said a white man was threatening and harassing three black men. She also said the white man, called "AK," showed up in a red sedan and was waving a gun around telling the other men not to mess with him.
The officer arrived and spoke with the four men, who were all standing next to a red Chevrolet Malibu to the west of the building. The officer asked Kelley if he was "AK," but Kelley said he was not.
Kelley said he had no weapons on him, and the officer performed a pat search to be sure. Two other officers arrived, and the first officer got Kelley's permission to search the Malibu for any weapons.
On the ground near the driver's side of the rear bumper, the officer found a black Glock 43 pistol. The gun had four rounds in the magazine and one round in the chamber.
Kelley was handcuffed for officer safety and for the safety of other people in the area. He was later formally arrested.
Kelley said he wanted police to give the car keys to one of the other men, but he didn't know where the keys were located. An officer looked around the car and, instead of finding the keys, he allegedly found a red drawstring bag which contained marijuana and a Rock Island 1911 pistol.
The second pistol had five rounds in the magazine.
Witnesses told police that one of the men involved had been moving out of an apartment, and the other men were there to help. Three men and a woman were standing on the second floor stairwell, one witness claimed, and one of the men told Kelley to stop standing behind him.
That's when Kelley allegedly pulled out the black Glock and pointed it at the man, saying, "You don't know who you are f------ with!"
All of Kelley's friends reportedly told him to put the gun away. Kelley allegedly left for a moment, and then returned without the gun.
Three individual packages of marijuana were allegedly found in the Malibu. They weighed 2.7 ounces in total.
