Bond Set at $1M in Cheyenne Man’s Murder Case
Bond was set at $1 million Wednesday for a 45-year-old Cheyenne man accused of killing a Cheyenne woman whose body was found near Cody on Nov. 2.
Joseph Underwood made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on charges of first-degree murder, first-degree sexual assault-helpless, two counts of strangulation of a household member-throat or neck and stalking.
Underwood is accused of killing 40-year-old Angela Elizondo in Cheyenne on or about Nov. 1, then dumping her body in a remote area south of Cody.
Charging documents allege Underwood stalked Elizondo for nearly two months before killing her, but because of the sexual assault charge, the affidavit in the case has been sealed.
Underwood's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 26 at 9:30 a.m. The charges he was facing in Park County, where he was arrested, have been dismissed.
