BLM Issues Firewood Cutting Permits For Muddy Mountain Next Week
The local U.S. Bureau of Land Management office will issue firewood and post and pole permits for the Muddy Mountain area beginning Tuesday through Sept. 20, according to a news release.
The BLM's Casper Field Office will designate the available areas and individual trees available for cutting before the sale. Only marked trees are available for firewood use.
Permits are limited to three cords per person and will be issued on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Permits are $15 per cord and $1.50 per post or pole. There is an additional $1 road maintenance fee per permit. Individuals must appear in person at the Casper Field Office, 2987 Prospector Drive, to buy a permit between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
However, the BLM will suspend all cutting activities for the Fat Fish Mountain Bike Races one day only on July 16.
The cutting will end on Sept. 20, and all products must be removed that day.
