A bench warrant has been issued for a Powell man accused of threatening a Casper woman with a gun.

Twenty-eight year old Joshua Armstrong failed to show for his preliminary hearing on charges of aggravated assault, possession of a deadly weapon and felonious restraint.

Casper police say in early February,  they received a call from a woman who said Armstrong had a gun and was going to shoot her.

She said Armstrong accused her of stealing a ring from him and that he pointed a pistol at her wanting to know where it was while they were driving around Casper.

She told investigators that she made an attempt to flee, but Armstrong stopped her from doing so and said he was going to kill her if he did not get the ring back.

She was able to talk Armstrong into driving to a site where she said the ring was located, and once they got there, she was able to call police.

Armstrong denied trying to keep her in the vehicle and told investigators that he only had the gun to protect himself.
