The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking information on a shooting of pronghorn antelope west of Casper off 33 Mile Road.

The pronghorn were shot and killed on the evening of Sept. 26 around 5 p.m.

Daniel Beach, west Casper game warden says,

“The pronghorn were shot from the vehicle with an AK47 style assault rifle from the 33 Mile Road, to me, this is the worst kind of poaching, where wildlife are shot for fun and left to rot. Many people rely on hunting for a food source and these poachers just took that opportunity away from someone.”

Eyewitnesses described the vehicle as a dark red or maroon, newer model Nissan sports utility vehicle, possibly an Exterra, that was last seen headed west towards the Bighorn Mountains on 33 Mile Road. The front license plate was white with red letters or numbers. Four males were believed to be in the vehicle at the time of the shooting.

“We’re hoping to hear from anyone who can identify these people or the vehicle,”

Anyone with information on this crime is encouraged to call the Stop Poaching hotline at 1-877-WGFD-TIP. Tips may result in a reward of up to $5000 and informants can chose to remain anonymous.
