Wyoming Players React to Cowboys Win Over Gardner-Webb [VIDEOS]
The home debut was a successful one last Saturday, as the Wyoming Cowboys beat Gardner-Webb 27-0.
Josh Allen looked like a poised veteran, as he went 22-of-32 for 328 yards and two scores. He was happy with that part, but not satisfied with UW's overall offensive performance.
Austin Conway continued his ascension as the Pokes' primary playmaker. Conway made a career-high 11 catches for a career-best 134 yards. A lot of that came in the first half. Conway had a 27-yard TD catch and run that led to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. He added three punt returns for 53 yards. His 45-yard return in the second quarter set-up Wyoming's fourth score of the game. He had another long return negated by penalty.
The Wyoming defense was dominant. They allowed only 195 total yards with 173 on the ground, but only a 3.3 yards per carry average. Defensive end Kevin Prosser led the way with nine tackles. He had three tackles for loss and two sacks. Safety Andrew Wingard was one of three Cowboys with six tackles. Wingard also had the lone take-away in the game with his fourth quarter interception that led to a field goal.
The Pokes are preparing to host the Oregon Ducks from the PAC-12 this Saturday at 5 p.m. The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
