Wyoming Gets Federal Funds For Flood Damage

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming has been awarded about $20 million in federal funds to help pay the costs of repairing roads damaged by last year's flooding and landslides.

The state sustained about $32 million in damage to roads at about 60 sites in 13 counties.

The sites include the landslide on Wyoming 70 near Battle Pass between Baggs and Encampment, the landslide on U.S. 26-89 in Snake River Canyon southwest of Jackson and the washout of Wyoming 130 at Brush Creek east of Saratoga. The Wyoming 130 washout resulted in the drowning deaths of four members of a Colorado family whose vehicle was swept away.

Other damaged highway sections eligible for reimbursement with federal funds include the U.S. 14A causeway over Bighorn Lake and a landslide area on Interstate 90 south of Sheridan.
