CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — Ultimate fighting fans could soon get a chance to see a high-profile bout in Wyoming.

Gov. Matt Mead signed a bill into law on Thursday that creates a state-run mixed martial arts board.

The bill was sponsored by state Rep. Bryan Pedersen, a Cheyenne Republican, to help bring an Ultimate Fighting Championship event to Wyoming. The organization only holds events in states that regulate mixed-martial arts. Wyoming was among a handful that didn't.

The Associated Press reports that Mead will appoint three members to the new board once the law takes effect July 1. Fight organizers will have to hand over 5 percent of their sales to pay for the board.
