the National Weather Service has now issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Casper area from Thursday evening through midnight Friday. A cold spring storm will impact the Cowboy State through Friday night with significant snowfall. The weather service says the storm will shift from western Wyoming into the northern and central parts of the state later today, with rain turning into a mix of rain and snow, then all snow, becoming heavy at times.  The snow is gradually expected to taper off from north to south
Friday afternoon into Friday night.

The winter storm warning is in effect from 6:00 Thursday evening until midnight Friday night. Forecasters are predicting we'll see five to nine inches of snow, with the highest amounts in northern Natrona County and less toward Casper.

We'll likely see roads become slushy to snow covered later tonight, and remain slick at times through Friday night. We'll see the worst driving conditions Friday morning, conditions improving by midday Friday. The heavy snow may reduce visibility below a
quarter mile at times.

The Weather Service says a Winter Storm Warning means travel could become very hazardous or impossible. If you have to  travel keep some food, water, and an extra flashlight in your vehicle in case of an emergency. You can find the latest road conditions at wyoroad.info or by dialing 5 1 1.
