UW to Begin Search for New College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Dean

The University of Wyoming will begin a nationwide search for a new dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources after longtime Dean Frank Galey announced his retirement.

Galey, whose retirement will be effective on June 30, has accepted a job of provost and executive vice president of Utah State University, UW says.

Galey came to the university in 1999 to serve as the director of the Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory and head of the Department of Veterinary Sciences. He was appointed dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources in the fall of 2001.

“UW is deeply indebted to Dean Galey for his many years of service to the university,” UW Provost Kate Miller says in a statement. “We wish him well. The move to USU is an exciting opportunity for him.”

Miller said while the planning for a search takes place, she is working to put together an interim leadership team for the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources that will be put into action no later than July 1.

“I will work diligently to lead the college and work closely with the provost’s office in leading as smooth a transition as possible until my retirement,” Galey says in a statement. “I am proud of the many accomplishments that the college has made over the past 16-plus years that I have had the privilege to serve as dean.”
