Safe Kids Day In Casper May 5th
It's a day to celebrate kids, prevent injuries and save lives; the annual Safe Kids Day is coming up Saturday, May 5th in Casper. Some 9,000 kids are lost to preventable injuries every year in the United States, according to Safe Kids, which says preventable injuries are the No. 1 killer of kids in the country. Safe Kids Day is designed to help prevent these injuries in a fun and educational way.
"What our main goal is just to talk to kids and their parents about how to prevent childhood injuries and deaths," says Andrea D'Onofrio with Safe Kids of Central Wyoming. "You know, all those crazy things that can happen that you don't think about, we try and educated on those so that they go home a lot more prepared than when they came in."
Safe Kids says there will be a number of community partners at the fun family event, including Casper Fire-EMS with the "Get Out Alive" house and fire safety tips, the Casper Police Department, the Natrona County Sheriff's Department with information including gun safety, and Respect Our River with water safety advice among others. Safe Kids will also be distributing bike helmets and life jackets, and ask for a donation if you can to help defray the costs.
Along with the learning, kids will also find face painting, Super Heroes and a chance for a drawings for a free kid’s bike and Kindle.
