A classical dance form from India graces the stage at Natrona County High School Monday night. Ragamala Dance Company's 'Sacred Earth' comes to Casper in the latest offering from Artcore.

"Its historical beginnings are in the temple. It has mythological beginnings and until about 200 years ago it was performed in temples as part of festivals and celebrations and its now almost exclusively performed in theaters."

Aparna Ramaswamy, choreographer and dancer, says the dance form has both an abstract and narrative aspect to it. Sacred Earth works with themes of earthly connection and divine balance.

Ragamala Dance Company's performance is at 7:30 pm, Monday, April 16th in the Natrona County High School Auditorium.

In related offerings this Sunday, April 15th,  there will be a Dance Master Class at 1:00 p.m. at 307 Dance Academy, as well as a hands-on Kolam demonstration- traditional  rice flour floor design-at 3:00 p.m. at Nicolaysen Art Museum.
