Cheyenne Mayor Marian Orr announced Wednesday that longtime Cheyenne attorney Tony Ross will replace Senior Municipal Court Judge Mark Moran, who's retiring at year's end.

A Cheyenne native, Ross served in the Wyoming House of Representatives from 1995 to 2004. In 2005, he was elected to the Wyoming Senate, later serving as President of the Senate in 2013.

During his tenure, Ross served on numerous committees. Most recently he served as Chairman for the Joint Legislative and Executive Task Force on Capitol Building Rehabilitation and Restoration.

"I am thrilled that Tony will be joining our team and leading the judicial branch of our city government," said Orr. "During his distinguished time in the legislature he helped craft many of the laws we have today, and he's no stranger to our municipal court as a longtime prosecutor."

"The opportunity to continue public service and to serve the citizens of Cheyenne is humbling and a big honor," said Ross. "I appreciate the mayor’s confidence in me with this opportunity."
