A Casper man has been charged after nearly crashing into a Highway Patrol vehicle.

Forty-four year old Ross Alt has been charged with DUI, Reckless Driving and Eluding a Law Enforcement Officer, after narrowly missing a head on collision with a Wyoming Highway Patrolman's Vehicle.

According to prosecutors, just after midnight on Sunday January 22nd, a trooper noticed Alt driving without his lights on, in the wrong lane on highway 20-26 west of Casper.

Alt nearly hit the trooper's vehicle head on and the trooper had to drive off the road to avoid the collison.

Alt was arrested a short time later after taking out several highway posts, and he appeared to be very intoxicated according to trooper.

An investigation revealed that not long before the near collision, Alt had driven his vehicle into a bridge guard-rail, which ended up taking out his vehicle's headlights.

He is being held at the Natrona County Detention Center on fifteen-thousand dollars bond.
