Rocky Mountain Power expects to have restored electric service to the residents north and east of Casper who were affected by the wild land fire on Sunday and today, a spokeswoman said Monday morning.

"Currently we have restored service to all the area except for eight customers, and we expect to have them fully restored sometime today," Margaret Oler said.

Just before 6 p.m. Sunday, the power went out and that affected 959 customers, Oler said.

"What we did was we opened an entire circuit so workers could fight the fire safely, then we did stepped restoration to groups of customers during the night," she said.

"We have had damage to multiple distribution poles, electric distribution poles, and there has been some damage to the electric transmission system," Oler said. "Our local crews and a crew from Douglas came in to help, and they worked through the night on those repairs and restoring customers."

Crews are continuing to replace burned power poles, she said. "The transmission repairs are still ongoing, but it's not expected that that will produce any outage."

Oler urges anyone who is still affected by the power outage to call Rocky Mountain Power's customer service at (888) 221-7070.
