Prison Time for Casper Man Who Took $194K From 92-Year-Old
A former Casper car salesman was sentenced to a term of imprisonment Friday for exploiting a 92-year-old woman and swindling her out of more than $194,000.
District Judge Thomas Sullins sentenced 26-year-old Taylor Cole Few to a term of 30 to 96 months in prison. Few, as part of a plea agreement, previously pleaded guilty to a single felony count of exploitation of a vulnerable adult.
"A trusted person looted an elderly person's assets," Assistant District Attorney Mike Blonigen told Sullins during the sentencing hearing. "While her utilities were being turned off, the defendant was buying things in Las Vegas at Versace."
The victim has since passed away.
"This is nothing more than greed," Blonigen continued. "This is not a boyish mistake. It is calculated and repeated criminal activity."
The victim, who dealt with decreased mental capacity, bought and traded in three vehicles at White's Mountain Motors, with Few as the salesman, from December 2016 through May 2017. The victim spent over $47,000 on vehicle purchases in four months.
Over the span of roughly nine months, Few received over $165,000 in 13 different checks from the victim. The victim had withdrawn another $17,000 from her accounts with no explanation, according to court documents.
Sullins on Friday also ordered Few to pay $194,135 in restitution to the victim's estate.
