As the final remnants of Casper's original hospital are torn down Wyoming Medical Center officials prepare for construction of a new west tower.

Establishing the construction zone means a change for public parking.

"The main change in traffic patterns is, historically the parking lot to the south has been for the use of staff and it's now focused on patients during the construction period."

Project Manager, Leigh Hantho, says they're directing the public to enter from the old south garage off of third street. He says during business hours security staff should be available to direct visitors.

The new $30 million west building will include a surgical floor for orthopedics and spine, a new mother and baby unit, a new lobby and admissions. Hantho also described an outdoor area between buildings designed to serve as a healing garden for patients.

Demolition continues through July with ground breaking in August and expected completion by December of 2013.
