Oilers Win 4 in Cheyenne Tournament
The Casper Oilers took 4 out of 5 in the Cheyenne Firecracker tournament over the 4th of July weekend to improve to 33-12-1 on the year. Back on Thursday, the Oilers beat the Gold team from Parker, Colorado 10-0 as Brooks Browning homered and drove in 5 runs. On Friday, Casper defeated Lubbock, Texas 15-8 as Corbin Kirk went 4-5 with $ RBI's and 3 runs scored. Casper's game with Cheyenne Post 6 was a rain-shortened 4-1 decision in favor of the Oilers. The game lasted just 2 and a half innings due to the weather and Casper scored 3 times in the first inning. On Saturday, the Oilers defeated the Jefferson Academy out of Colorado 13-0 with 4 runs in the 1st and 2nd innings, 3 in the 3rd and 2 more in the 4th. Browning had 3 hits and 2 RBI's while Kirk had 2 hits and 3 RBI's. Casper concluded play in the Cheyenne tournament with a 4-1 loss to Parker, Colorado. Taubert went 1-3 with an RBI in that game for the Oilers who will host Jackson in a doubleheader on Tuesday night at Lansing Field.
