Natrona County voters may have the final say as to whether a new library is built in Casper. The Natrona County Library Board has agreed to move forward with plans to fund construction of a new $29,700,000 library in the Old Yellowstone District.

A 30-member citizen-led task force met for several months, and recommended construction of a new 83,000 square foot facility, funded through a one-cent specific purpose sales tax.

Within a few weeks, the Library Board of Trustees is expected to take a final vote on whether to put the issue before voters in November. The measure would also require approval by the Natrona County Commission and support from a majority of the towns within the county.
