LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — A University of Wyoming task force is proposing moving its demonstration school out of the College of Education and constructing a new building on campus for it.

The Lab School, which serves about 230 students, grades K-8, and is also a learning site for UW students, has been housed in the College of Education building since 1949.

Stakeholders have noted that the building's university functions do not allow for security measures that are appropriate for a grade school.

A report by the task force says the building's thick concrete walls and floor make it difficult to install new technology.

The task force proposes requesting architectural design funding from the Legislature in 2021 and later listing the new education complex in the 2022 budget year.
