More Charges for Man Accused of Killing Ex-Girlfriend
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A Colorado man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and shooting her boyfriend is facing new charges after being accused of injuring a deputy at the Laramie County Jail.
26-year-old Daniel Guajardo has been formally charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and battery, interference with a peace officer-injury and aiding and abetting escape or violence by assault.
Officials say Guajardo injured a deputy July 22 before opening cell doors and helping another inmate attack a third inmate.
Prosecutors say Guajardo fatally shot 26-year-old Janessa Spencer after breaking into her Cheyenne home in April. Her boyfriend, 24-year-old Samuel Cook, survived a gunshot wound to the back.
Guajardo has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and aggravated burglary. He could face the death penalty.
