A Rock Springs man charged with sexual assault had his charges bound over to District Court last Tuesday.

According to a release from the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Office, William Lane McGarvey, 33, is charged for a sexual assault that happened in the early morning of December 28th.

Deputies responded to a call north of Rock Springs, where a woman had pleaded entry to a residence. The occupants of the home found the woman, trembling and unclothed and weeping. They gave her clothing and called the Sheriff.

The January 11th release reports that the victim described a situation in which she and a female friend accepted rides home from a man at a bar. The man was said to have dropped one of the women off, but then drove the victim to the area she was found, and sexually assaulted her twice, taking her clothes during the alleged assault.

McGarvey was identified by witness interviews as well as by photo line-up; he was also interviewed by Sweetwater Det. John Grossnickle.

McGarvey faces two counts of First Degree Sexual Assault, which Circuit Court Judge Dan Forgey bound over February 8th. Bond was set at 60,000 dollars, cash or surety.

McGarvey was still in custody at the Sweetwater County Detention Center on Friday.
