Casper native and Natrona County high school grad Lauren Taubert continued her excellent season in college track and field by qualifying for the NCAA Championships in the heptathlon. She competed for Kansas State University and rang up 5770 points at the Big 12 Championships at Oklahoma over the weekend to take 2nd place. That point total was a personal record and the 7th best mark in the nation this year. Taubert will be one of 24 competitors at the NCAA Championships and she ranks 5th on the all time Kansas State list for that event. She also took 2nd in the 400 hurdles at the Big 12 championships. Taubert was a 3 time state champion in the 300 hurdles and the high jump competing for NC and was named the 2016 Gatorade Track Athlete of the Year
