CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Laramie County has banned the use of fireworks in unincorporated areas because of the risk of grass fires.

Fireworks will only be allowed in a designated area near Interstate 25 from June 30 to July 4.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reported Thursday that the ban is expected to remain in effect until the fall.

The county is also asking property owners to keep dry grass near structures mowed short and not to burn trash.
