Jon Vance Released as Kelly Walsh H.S. Football Coach
Kelly Walsh High School will be searching for a new varsity football coach as Jon Vance has been let go by the school. Vance was the Trojan head coach for the last 8 years with 7 playoff appearances but just one season with a record above .500. His career record was 32-43 with KW and that one winning season came in 2017 when the Trojans went 7-4, advancing to the 4A semi-finals. Vance had four, seven loss seasons; in 2011, 2014, 2015 and 2018. He was also the winning coach for the 2016 Shrine Bowl as the North beat the South 41-26
and was an assistant with the Shrine Bowl North team in 2012. Vance was a 4 year starter at Black Hills State in Spearfish, South Dakota and was an all conference linebacker in three of those years. He also served on Black Hills coaching staff for 7 seasons, starting as a grad assistant, then moving up to special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach.
