Where In Wyoming Is This Flying Saucer?
Where the heck in Wyoming did this flying saucer land? I did some digging and found it, so you can find it too. By the way, it is not the only flying saucer that you can see in Wyoming.
This picture was posted on Wyoming Through the Lens, a Facebook page. Its title suggests that it is in Jeffrey City, Wyoming. But I've been to Jeffrey City many times and have never seen it.
Reaction suggests that, perhaps, it is located in the town of La Barge, Wyoming. That is where my investigation begins, and I found it.
With all due respect to the towns, they are both junky, with trash-filled lots and homes falling apart that still have people living in them. So, if a redneck-looking flying saucer was going to land where they would feel at home, either would be the place.
The Wyoming Through the Lens Facebook post is below.
Folks in the comments do not think it is Jeffery City.

When people post things like this, it's usually stolen content, the person has Alzheimer's or dementia or could just be a raging alcoholic. Or all 3. The photo was taken near La Barge, Wyoming.

That isn't Jeffrey City

That’s La Barge, I believe. There is a house with a bunch of stuff there.

I found the UFO Trump is looking for.

Hmmm…. LaBarge?
From these comments, I get the impression that it is NEAR La Barge but not in. Now I want to drive out there and find it. I spent some time on Google Earth and Street View with no luck.
Possible clues suggest that the house has hills behind it, which probably means we are looking west. Look for two skylights in the roof, a wooden fence, and a rusty tank off to the right. That is all we have to go on.
Then I found Ross Welding near the south end of La Barge. That's not the only thing Ross has out there. When he gets bored, he welds stuff and, apparently, there is a lot to see.
Let's not forget this flying saucer near Lander, Wyoming.
Many stories have been written about Wyoming's Green River Intergalactic Space Port.
In past articles, I've pointed out that Wyoming has two spaceports. Don't forget Devils Tower. The 'documentary' Close Encounters of the Third Kind is well known.
You can look up the Green River Intergalactic Space Port on any map.
But did you know you can look it up on a special map made just for pilots?
Look for that map, below, in this story.
Let's back up to see how this spaceport came to be.
Much like the invention of the Jackalope in Douglas, Wyoming, which is now world-famous, the Green River Space Port was said to be an interplanetary humanitarian effort to save potential lifeforms on Jupiter.
The planet was being bombarded by the remnants of a comet at the time.
What began as tongue-in-cheek by the local city council is now officially recognized on aeronautical charts.
Yeah, that's right, the FAA has a sense of humor.
Then again, anyone from Jupiter is welcome, for real.
Nobody from the giant planet has taken them up on it.
This odd-looking map below is called a Sectional Chart. It's used by pilots.
Let's zoom in to the Green River area to see what the FAA has named that little dirt and gravel strip locals call the Green River Intergalactic Space Port.
You notice an airport identifier of 48U. Not really a clever name. It just helps pilots to find it when using electronic maps or planning a flight.
Cheyenne's airport identifier is KCYS. Casper's is KCPR. The Rock Springs airport is identified as KRKS.
BUT HOLD ON!
What's that written above 48U?
Well, I'll be....
Some years ago, the FAA officially recognized that little green river airport as GREEN RIVER INTERGALACTIC.
Digging a little deeper into the official FAA listings, they do include SPACE PORT in their write-up. They just did not care to write it all out on the map, to save space.
So, there you go, it's official.
The only officially recognized Intergalactic Spaceport on Earth.
