New Taylor Sheridan TV Drama Puts Montana in the Spotlight Again
A new drama called The Madison is debuting in March, and a big part of it was filmed right here in Big Sky Country.
Montana Filming Locations Highlighted
Much of the filming took place in the Madison River valley, with scenes shot in Ennis and downtown Bozeman. Production for the first season ran from late summer into winter 2024, then resumed in fall 2025 for season two. Some scenes meant to look like New York City were filmed in North Texas, but Montana is really the show's visual heart.
Plot Overview: The Clyburn Family’s Journey
The series follows the Clyburn family, originally from New York City, who relocate to southwest Montana after a tragedy shakes their lives. The move is meant to help them heal and reset, but as you can imagine, adjusting to life in Montana brings its own challenges and emotional moments. It mixes family drama with the kind of sweeping Western atmosphere that Montana naturally provides.
Star-Studded Cast Announced
This isn’t a small production. The cast includes Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell as the family’s parents, along with Patrick J. Adams, Matthew Fox, Beau Garrett, Elle Chapman, and several others. Will Arnett is also set to appear in a guest role. With names like that attached, expectations are pretty high.
Not a Yellowstone Spinoff, But Familiar Feeling
Because Taylor Sheridan, the creator of Yellowstone, is involved, many assume this is directly tied to that universe. Early on, it was described as a spinoff, but the show is now being positioned more as a standalone story. Same Montana feel, same cinematic style, just a different family and storyline.

Second Season Confirmed Early
Here’s something interesting: the series was renewed for a second season before the first one even premiered. That usually signals strong confidence from the network, and production for that second season has already wrapped.
Montana’s Landscape and Emotional Resonance
This series leans into the Montana landscape and the emotional pull people feel when they come here looking for space, healing, or a fresh start. If you live here, you might recognize that story more than you think.

Premiere Date and Viewing Details
The Madison will premiere on Paramount+ on Saturday, March 14. Whether you tune in for the story, the scenery, or just to see if your favorite fishing spot makes a cameo, it looks like Montana is about to get another big moment on screen.
