Winter In Yellowstone Reveals Stunning Wildlife Moments
Sometimes you see something that makes you sit back and go WOW. Well, sit back and get ready to say, WOW.
Professional photographer and photography guide Jonathan William Kuiper of JWK Images is an Alaska-based photographer and guide who recently spent time in Yellowstone. While he was there, he captured awe-inspiring photos and videos of snow-covered Yellowstone National Park, a wildlife-filled wintertime wonderland.
During the winter, most of the park's roads are closed, but there is still a chance for folks to get through. If you think about it, winter could be the best chance to see the wildlife. Fewer park visitors mean less traffic and congestion, which could normally deter animal sightings.
If you're interested in photography, you may have a fantastic opportunity to get the photo of a lifetime by heading to Yellowstone during the winter, as Jonathan did.
If you check out his website or Facebook page, you'll find JWK's collection of photos, with many from Wyoming on display. In the highlight reel of his time in Yellowstone, he says.
To see animals surviving in one of the harshest environments on earth.
But this year felt different. It felt like I had to search for winter, instead of it being unavoidable. It was more difficult to find scenes that I’ve become so used to seeing in Yellowstone this time of year. It feels odd to wish for harsher conditions, but I know the wildlife is built for it, and ready for winter when it finally shows itself.
Seeing his material makes me want to jump in the truck and head West. Living in Wyoming makes that an actual possibility, because it's just a few hours away. Even though that's the case, you still need to keep a few things in mind when visiting Yellowstone in the winter.
