Road Work To Be Tough For Casper’s First Responders

There aren't too many people that love to get stuck in road construction, especially First Responders.

For at least the next year, the Casper emergency crews are expecting the construction on the F Street bridge are going to be a bit of an issue. According to the City Of Casper Facebook page:

Our first responders expect that this closure will impact their ability to respond to emergency calls in the area.

Obviously, the emergency responders are in the business of looking at a tough situation and doing what they have to do, to be efficient in responding to those in need of assistance.

Please be patient with these crews, they are doing everything they can to get to you.

To start a project, like the one that's going on over the North Platte River, you have to do preconstruction construction. That's been going on for a few weeks. The Jersey Barriers (center concrete barrier), have been removed for a section of I-25 through town, to allow for crews to merge the two Southbound lanes of traffic into one. Speed has gone from the normal 60, down to 45 through the construction zone.

WYDOT laid out the plans earlier this year, saying they'll start the project on the northbound side, then do the south.

Construction on the interstate will affect one direction at a time. When the northbound structures are being reconstructed, traffic will be switched to the southbound lanes, and vice versa. Ramps will function as normal unless they are under construction then temporary ramps will be installed.

 

While southbound work is underway, there will a detour ramp to Center Street from southbound I-25 between Kimball and Park streets on the south side. The south side frontage road will temporarily become a two-way street, allowing access to businesses and Center Street.

 

Once work begins on the northbound lanes, work will also begin to replace the F Street bridge, necessitating its closure. Access to F Street businesses on the west side of the river will be via Poplar Street and Center Street for those on the east side.

The project will cover just under 1 mile of road and take about 2 years to complete fully.
