2023-2024 in Casper is going to get REALLY exciting with the Casper Roughnecks hockey team taking the ice for the first time.

Back in 2019, the Casper Coyotes left town and left a void for high action, checking, slapshots, superb goaltending and puck handling of hockey. This fall, the Roughnecks will take over and provide all of those exciting opportunities for hockey fans in the Casper region.

The Roughnecks were playing in Rock Springs as the Prospectors, but will now call Casper home under their new name. They'll be playing in the USPHL Premier Conference as part of the Northwest Division against teams from Bellingham and Seattle WA, Medford OR, Vernal UT,

Checking out this map of the teams, you can see there are quite a few USPHL Premier Division teams across the country.

When the first puck drops this fall for the Roughnecks, they'll be calling the Casper Ice Arena home.

The team will be coached by Danny Randall, who's also co-owner and GM as well, played a major role in bringing a hockey team back to Casper. Randall said in a press release on the teams website:

The state of Wyoming is a great place to invest, as there is no income or business tax, and I know that past franchises in Casper have performed well, especially the former Casper Coyotes

Not only will the team bring action on the ice back to Casper, but will also give opportunities for new players. If you're interested in finding out more about playing, you can check the website, casperroughnecks.com.
