UPDATE (9:30 a.m. Sunday)

I-25 between Casper and Douglas has reopened, though WYDOT advises the road surface is slick.

Winter weather conditions have forced the closure of Interstate 25 between Casper and Douglas, according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation.

WYDOT estimates it will reopen I-25 some time Sunday morning.

The department also advises no unnecessary travel on I-25 north of Casper.

WYDOT cautions motorists they should not travel unnecessarily on roads in and around Casper because they are slick with snowfall.

Those roads include Wyoming Highway 258 [Wyoming Boulevard], Wyoming Highway 220 [CY Avenue west past Alcova], the West Belt Loop, and Casper Mountain Road.

The winter weather also has resulted in no unnecessary travel advisories for much of eastern and southern Wyoming.

The Riverton office of the National Weather Service reports a 40% chance of snow on Saturday night into Sunday morning with wind chill values as low as zero.

Wind chill values will reach zero on Sunday, too, with mostly sunny skies.
