A mule deer poached on the back side of Casper Mountain off of Circle Drive this weekend has Wyoming Game and Fish officials looking for information.

Robin Kepple at the Casper Area offices says the buck deer was shot near where the pavement ends on the south side of the mountain. The location is closed to hunting. She says it was killed with archery equipment sometime Saturday between 8 and 10 in the morning.

"We're hoping that someone with some information may come forward. Someone who'd seen a vehicle in the area perhaps some hunters. Any other type of suspicious activity - a vehicle that was going really slow - anything like that."

Kepple adds that, while wildlife officials are out in force at this time of year, they're limited in the amount of ground they can cover. So they ask, if you see something suspicious, contact the local Wyoming Game and Fish office or call the Stop Poaching Tip Line at 877-WGFD-TIP. Rewards are possible and informants can remain anonymous.
