House Fire Claims Life of Woman in Rock Springs
ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) — A house fire in southwest Wyoming has claimed the life of a 72-year-old woman.
The fire occurred about 1:55 p.m. Saturday at a Rock Springs residence.
The victim was identified as Shirley Kelley.
Authorities say she was unable to escape despite first responders' efforts to rescue her, and she was later pronounced dead.
One deputy sheriff was taken to Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County to be treated for smoke inhalation. No other injuries to emergency responders were reported.
Officials from the State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the cause of the fire.
