Homeless Man Arrested for Urinating on Casper Veterans Memorial
A man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after allegedly relieving himself on the memorial in Veterans Park.
Delhue Johnson Jr., 43, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of public intoxication and urinating in public. He will likely make his initial appearance Wednesday in Natrona County Circuit Court.
Charging papers say a Natrona County Sheriff's deputy was on Second Street near Veterans Park at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday when he saw a man bent over, urinating on the memorial.
The man -- Johnson -- then walked out into traffic at Second and Kimball, approaching vehicles and asking people for money. The deputy stopped and spoke to Johnson.
A Casper police officer showed up two minutes later and spoke with Johnson, who reportedly said he had two or three beers some three hours prior. He didn't believe he was drunk.
His blood-alcohol concentration at the time of his arrest was .218.
Officers took him to Wyoming Medical Center to be checked out before they took him to jail. While at the hospital, Johnson reportedly said, "I want to put a gun to my head and blow my brains out."
