If a non-profit group you know has a great idea for a rural jobs and innovation project, that idea may be eligible for a slice of a $15 million challenge grant.

The U.S. Commerce Department is calling on rural communities to offer their best ideas for rural economic growth specific to their region.

"As they have ideas and bring the right partners around the table with the right plans to create jobs, we want to provide that funding to help make that happen."

Matt Erskine at the Commerce Department says the Rural Jobs and Innovation Challenge is open to non profit groups to submit ideas before May 9th. Eligible projects  may qualify to win some of the $15 million in funding.
