Gillette Woman Arrested After Allegedly Shooting Husband, Police Say
A day after allegedly shooting her husband in the chest, a Gillette woman was in custody awaiting formal charges Tuesday afternoon.
Paulette Iliff, 54, had not yet made her initial court appearance, according to Lt. Brent Wasson of the Gillette Police Department. Prosecutors were working with investigators to decide which charge or charges to file against Iliff.
Her husband, 62-year-old Robert Iliff, was in good condition following the shooting, Wasson told K2 Radio News in a phone interview.
The incident evidently occurred sometime before 7 a.m. Monday. That was the hour Robert Iliff arrived at a local emergency room with a gunshot wound to his chest.
Police officers later found Paulette Iliff at a home on Hogeye Drive. She had wounds on her wrist and neck -- police say the injuries appeared superficial and self-inflicted. She was taken to a hospital for medical treatment before being booked into jail.
The shooting took place at the couple's home in the 400 Block of Rockpile Boulevard. Wasson said a .45-caliber handgun was used.
With charges pending, Wasson declined to comment on a possible motivation.
