A Casper man is behind bars for trying to break into his mother-in-law's apartment with an axe.

Frederico Gomez Jr. has been charged with aggravated assault, use of a deadly weapon and interfering with a 911 call.

Casper police say on Thursday afternoon May 17th, Gomez's mother-in-law told officers that Gomez showed up at her apartment wanting to see his wife.

At first he was beating and kicking the front door, and was threatening to break it in.

Gomez then went to the back of the building, climbed onto the balcony and entered the apartment with an axe.

He then grabbed his wife and broke his mother-in-law's phone while she was talking with 911 operators.

He left the apartment empty handed, and was arrested a short time later after police found the axe.

Gomez is being held on fifty-thousand dollars bond, awaiting trial.
