A former Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper accused of stalking his estranged wife and keying her boyfriend's car has pleaded guilty to a single count of felony property destruction.

Thirty-two-year-old Robert King entered the plea this (Friday) morning in Laramie County District Court as part of an amended plea agreement with the state.

"On Feb. 12, I was going through a divorce," King told Judge Thomas Campbell. "I went to see my child and saw that my soon-to-be ex's boyfriend was there. I got upset and keyed his car."

The state had originally agreed to drop the property destruction charge in exchange for King's guilty plea to stalking, but King failed to give a factual basis for the stalking charge and the plea agreement was reworked.

King is facing a sentence of up to ten years in prison. His sentencing date will be set as soon as a presentence investigation is complete, which usually takes a few months.
