Former Chamber Director Announces Run For City Council

Robin Mundell has announced her candidacy for a seat on City Council representing Ward 1.Ward 1 generally covers the central area of Casper from the east side of Poplar Street on the west, to the city boundaries on the south, to Beverly Street on the east and the North Platte River on the north. Bob Hopkins, Daniel Sandoval and Keith Goodenough currently serve as councilmen for Ward 1. Mr. Hopkins and Mr. Sandoval have 2 years remaining on their terms, Mr. Goodenough was elected to a four year term in 2010 and that seat is up for election.

Robin Mundell had this to say,

“I am running for City Council because I want to be a part of the decision making process that will ensure future generations will have a solid foundation to enjoy the good life as well. I am running because Casper has been very good to me over the years. As such, I believe that my service as a City Councilman will be my way to pay it forward. The time in my life is right for this decision.I am announcing now as there is a lot of work to get done in a short time.

Ms. Mundell has lived in Casper for over 27 years. After nearly 12 years of service, she retired from the City of Casper in 2011 as its Housing and Community Development Manager where she managed the City’s allocation of Community Development Block Grant funds, the Section 108 Loan Guarantee program and LifeSteps Campus. Upon her retirement in 2011, she served as the Executive Director of the Casper Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center until she resigned in August of 2013 to take care of family business. Her career includes serving as staff and as a board member in several nonprofit organizations. Robin currently serves as the Vice President of Wyoming Housing Network, on the board of directors of the Reach 4 A Star Riding Academy and is a past president of the Casper Rotary Club. She is married and has two adult children and two grandchildren that also make their home in Casper.

Candidates for City Council must file with the City Clerk May 14-30. Candidates will stand for election in the August primary and the finalists will move forward to the general election held the first Tuesday in November.
