Federal Judges Sentence Six Defendants
Wyoming federal judges recently sentenced five men and one woman for illegal alien, drug, and theft crimes, according to a news release from the Wyoming U.S. Attorney's Office.
Chief U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Freudenthal sentenced Martin Patrick Stenger, 62, of Cheyenne for conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine and for possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Stenger received 15 years one month of imprisonment, to be followed by five years of probation. Freudenthal also ordered him to pay a $200 special assessment and $500 in restitution.
This case results from an ongoing Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force investigation conducted by the Laramie Police Department, the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The principal mission of the OCDETF program is to identify, disrupt and dismantle the most serious drug trafficking, weapons trafficking and money laundering organizations, and those primarily responsible for the nation’s illegal drug supply.
Judge Scott Skavdahl sentenced William Jay Lonebear, 62, of Arapahoe for theft of personal property. Lonebear was arrested in Riverton. He received time served, to be followed by three years of probation, and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment and $64,879.99 in restitution.
The U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs investigated this case.
Skavdahl also sentenced Cynthia Julissa Lemus, 32, of Gillette for conspiracy to distribute a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine. She received three years 10 months of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of probation, and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment.
This case was investigated by the Gillette Police Department, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, the DCI, and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Freudenthal and Judge Alan Johnson sentenced three Mexican nationals for illegal re-entry of a previously deported alien into the United States. The three were arrested in Cheyenne.
- Jose Chavez-Barragan, 29, of Cotija, Michoacan, received time served, plus 10 days, was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment, and is subject to deportation upon release from custody.
- Leonardo Leon-Jaime, 34, of Cueramero, Guanajuato, received nine months of imprisonment, was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment, and is subject to deportation upon release from custody.
- Edwin de Jesus Roque-Toledo, 28, of Pijijapan, Chiapas, received time served, plus 10 days, was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment, and is subject to deportation upon release from custody.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigated these cases.
