Residents of Evansville have a brand new space for public and private events, Senior Center meals and computer access for kids. Wednesday was the Grand Opening of the town's new community center.

"This is where we serve a meal everyday at noon for seniors. They can come in and they can enjoy a meal. Its very well done."  Dan Adcock  is a town of Evansville employee with a strong sense of history and place, and he led me on a tour of the new building. The building features a large beautifully windowed room full of historical artifacts.

"This is the reading-museum room and we have in here currently some artifacts that were found around Evansville- the military sites, the Reshaw Bridge sites, settlements that were around our community."

The room also features a miniature model of the original Evansville river crossing known as "Reshaw bridge".

Evansville Mayor, Phil Hines, says the new community center is already getting alot of use. The new space for seniors to gather daily for meals is a big improvement in accessibility, he says, over the previous space in the basement of the townhall.

"At the Town hall they had a long ramp they had to walk down and we like to keep seniors on an even level where they don't have to negotiate stairs. This facility accomplishes that as well."

A computer room offers local students access to the internet on equipment donated by Best Buy.

The conference and meeting rooms and commercial kitchen are available for rent to community members for a nominal fee. Construction of the new facility was made possible by a 1.5 million dollar matching grant from the Wyoming Business Council.
