Drawdown of Alcova Reservoir Set to Begin Oct. 1
Water managers will begin to lower the water level in Alcova Reservoir on Tuesday, Oct. 1 as the 2019 irrigation season draws to a close.
Boat owners and others using the reservoir should be aware of the declining water level and take appropriate precautions.
The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation says the reservoir's water surface elevation will be lowered roughly 10 feet at a rate of approximately four inches per day.
The reservoir's normal operating range is between 5,487 and 5,489 feet. Water released during the drawdown will be stored in Glendo Reservoir.
