The Wyoming democratic minority found a lot to like in the Governor's State of the State Wednesday, but as Senate minority floor leader,  John Hastert explains when there's opposition, it's deep seated.

Senate minority floor leader,  John Hastert says  democrats like the idea of more funding for city, towns and counties, and dollars to infrastructure.  He says its long over due.  And they support the Governor's desire to put the brakes on  when it comes to increasing money to school facility construction until adjustments to state preference laws are made.

"Right now we're rebuilding our school infrastructure for  the state of Wyoming with out-of-state workers and by adjusting some loopholes in the preference law we'll be better able to put Wyoming Workers to work."

The minority party's opposition to the Governor's proposals takes its strongest form  in opposing the move to join the lawsuit fighting the Affordable Health Care Act.  Democrats see the two million dollars proposed for a legal fund as a misuse of tax payer money.  Hastert says there are positives about the Act that no one in Wyoming is talking about.

"The costs savings on some of the safety net programs that will go away-there are several safety net programs that we won't need any more and so there's  quite a bit of savings associated with the Affordable Healthcare Act."

On education Hastert says Democrats share a desire with the Governor to improve education but don't believe eliminating tenure for teachers is the answer.  Rather, they fear it means extra costs and more time spent away from working through proposals that could improve what goes on in the classroom on a daily basis.
