A quarantine for cats at a Wyoming animal shelter has ended.

The Park County Animal Shelter quarantined its cat population for three weeks after a litter of kittens came in with feline parvo.

Fifteen kittens died of the virus but none of the 73 other cats in the shelter became infected.

The Cody Enterprise reports kittens are especially vulnerable to parvo. Veterinarians recommend giving kittens parvo vaccine before they're a year old but the three shots can't be given too soon after one another.

The virus damages bone marrow, lymph nodes and intestinal cells.
