Casper, Wyoming Flags Fly At Half Staff To Honor Justice Scalia
The City of Casper is joining the rest of Wyoming and the nation in honoring the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, according to a news release from the city manager's office.
"On Saturday, February 13, 2016, President Barack Obama ordered, by proclamation and 'as a mark of respect for Antonin Scalia, Associate Justice of the United States, . . . that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset on the day of interment,'" according to the news release.
Gov. Matt Mead likewise has ordered the State of Wyoming flag be flown at half-staff in addition to the U.S. flag. In an effort to observe these orders, please lower all flags at the locations indicated above to half-staff immediately where they shall remain until sunset, Feb 20.
Scalia was found dead in his room at a private residence in the Big Bend area of Texas on Saturday.
